Our final Olympic visit, tomorrow, to the Olympic Stadium suggested a stay at Hilton Docklands Riverside would be a good choice, so here we are, with a fabulous view across the Thames to Canary Wharf (which we visited, of course):
After Buckingham Palace, we walked on towards the Thames, passing Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament:
Crossing the Thames, we see the London Eye, our goal (and hoping that queues are not too long for it). Surprisingly, and perhaps confirming all the newspaper reports of lacking tourism in London, we were riding the Eye within half an hour of arriving – spectacular views!
On the (long) walk back to the hotel, we traveled via Trafalgar Square, Regents Street, Oxford Street, Marble Arch …
From our hotel in Paddington, the best route to Buckingham Palace is past Paddington station, through Hyde Park …
Sadly cameras are not allowed inside – I had to put my camera in a supplied bag so I wasn’t tempted! So here’s a before, and after, picture!
