However, there’s still tasks to be done before we can properly move in; the garage door is open because it’s surface was only coated this morning (same for the rear porch) and meanwhile indoors, the stair rail has been drastically rebuilt to achieve “code” – and it’s rather ugly now with a strange slope, horizontal, vertical, horizontal, vertical, slope, design:

We have various tasks now over the next week, getting cable internet, walk in closets, and eventually doing a full move from 8002 to Independence next weekend …

What was the code issue on the handrail? Does it have to link up because there’s no half-landing at the turn? I’m sure once the inspector has seen it, you could put it back to how it was previously if you wanted! 😉
Yes, the requirement was for a rail at all stair positions; I guess they didn’t call the wide stair a landing. And I’m sure we’ll be re-doing it again in time!
