From our Egypt / Jordan trip, we returned home via London where we spent some days in a hotel right beside Tower Bridge. It gave us some good views!

On the opposite bank there’s a “beach” at low tide and one evening we saw people and fires down there, so I took a walk the next morning – access is via Horselydown Old Stairs and it gives another view of the bridge …

On another morning walk I went north a little, as far as a Roman ruin display “City Wall at Vine Street“; on the way I passed the Tower of London, Leadenhall Market, and photo’ed a lot of interesting buildings!

On another day, we took the underground and rode the London Eye (again!), and since we had just been in Egypt we also visited Cleopatra’s Needle on the embankment…

We also saw the excellent Back To The Future musical at the Adelphia Theatre:

Another day again, we visited the British Museum to see the Rosetta Stone (again continuing the Egypt theme!):

We tried to visit the Natural History Museum but it was crazy busy with long lines standing in the rain, so we switched to the Science Museum! There’s a lot to see there, and I mostly focused on the electronics including computer history – but which then also included Charles Babbage‘s works …

Our final day had us visiting the Tower of London, which had a curious (Beano) Dennis The Menace tie-in (and as always bans photos of the Crown Jewels!)

We also met friends and family that kindly traveled to London, saving us the normal renting a car and driving around England (so we had a bit of a rest from all the travel we’d just been doing in Egypt and Jordan!) – thanks, everyone!
