Dragon Schmagon 2014

This weekends big MINI meet is MINIs On The Dragon, but for owners not leaving the Sunshine State, James and Lori organized an alternative rally drive and pub crawl (links on Sunshine MINIs and facebook, which Margaret and I headed over to this morning. Happily the rain did not put everyone off:

The rally was not something that we’ve done before – a route list to follow, but with things to spot along the way (“what does TLC stand for”, “what’s on top of the green mailbox”, etc) – great fun! We missed a couple of the answers, but didn’t get lost. Following the rally was a nice burger pub lunch at The Half Wall Beer House.
The day continued with a “pub crawl” and more drinking – but Margaret & I bailed and headed back home. And I needed to give Black Knight a wash!

She looks much better for being clean, and the rain just about held off (a little extra drying needed once back in the garage!)

A fun day – thanks to James & Lori!

Orlando MINI F56 launch event

Tonight we drove to Orlando MINI for their F56 launch event, and Black Knight’s first “MINI meet” – sort of, at least, since there wasn’t any actual driving.

Black Knight got wet on the way there, too – and didn’t come home (I’m getting satellite radio installed):

The F56 launch event itself an assortment of the new MINIs visible, including this quite good looking Spice Orange:

In general, the F56 looked very MINI like with few downsides – though the “fall apart when pulled” door handles are strange!

Meanwhile, it was great to meet MINI friends (James, Lori, Andrea, Troy – and others whose name I don’t know), and enjoy the desserts:

Special thanks too to Greg, my Motoring Advisor, that organized booking my MINI in to get satellite radio installed – and presented a gift of a neat Tshirt:

Greasy’s Garage

Now just a couple of weeks from our move to Florida, Greasy’s Garage today was a perfect place for a last get together with MINI friends, including Pete, Theo, John, Thom, Reed, Ivan, … I also got to watch Ivan get various changes to his nicely colored MINI Coupe, including fog light reprogramming by Theo, and removal of a resonator by Pete, to increase exhaust growl:

A bit sad to be leaving my friends, but with luck I’ll meet them again, and meanwhile meet new MINI friends in Florida.
