Goodbye X3

In preparation for my new car, today we headed over to Fields BMW and completed paperwork for the purchase, including trading in my current BMW X3 (which is almost 7 years old, and 35,000 miles); here’s some “goodbye” photos of my X3 – which is the best car I’ve ever owned, and still wonderfully good to drive, but it’s time for hopefully an even better next drive!

Our garage, before and after …

My X3, returned to it’s origin at Fields BMW:

“X”change is coming …

And so it begins (again) …

(order details)

UPDATE: on January 8th I got a production number.

UPDATE: on January 31 the car moved to “production begins”!

UPDATE: on February 13 the car moved to entering assembly line (this occurred after I called the BMW Genius hotline this morning, which seems to be a bit of a coincidence – the build status skipped some steps so it appears maybe someone at BMW updated that data today in response to my phone call!

UPDATE: and almost immediately February 14 the car is assembled and ready for transportation!

UPDATE: Today February 24th my X6 shows “at BMW center” – but it’s going to be a few weeks yet till I see it!

Here’s a little comparison chart of the new X6 against my X3:

A “classic car wash”

After more than 3,000 miles driving to Oklahoma and Kansas, including “close encounters” with Buffalo, my bug-rain-dirt coated car really needed a wash! It’s already quite hot to be washing my X3 so I visited nearby Classic Car Wash and purchased one of their higher price services – it began with a normal “spray and brushes” automatic car wash but then as many as five people descended on the car cleaning inside and out, very thoroughly! My X3 is now shiny and happy 🙂
