The best MINI press kit?

It’s been a long long time since I did anything about MINI collectibles – but sorting through my many yet-to-be-filed items and discovering I have three of these MINI UK 2002 press kit CDs, I figured it was time to let other people see them …

This CD is one of my very favourite MINI collectibles, not because of its content but because of its design! The exterior of the CD case is bright red and ribbed, and when the yellow sleeve is put over it, you have a perfect MINI rear taillight design – and when you open the CD case, you discover that the CD itself is printed to look like the MINI speedometer!

The CD has lots of early MINI press stuff, including a set of images you’ve probably seen before (such as this one of Russ Swift driving a MINI on two wheels); the CD leaflet inside folds out to a very long sheet with all the images shown – this is only part of it (as long as my scanner could scan!)

Embroidered GBMINI

Robyn (The Bag Lady) recently expanded her embroidery designs to include MINIs; for a long time she has been making tire bags and other MINI storage items, embroidered to your specification but more recently, she has expanded into custom MINI designs including Tshirts; I decided to send a sweater down to her to have GBMINI#3 embroidered on it. However since both the car and the sweater are predominantly red, Robyn proposed to put a flag “behind” the car to make it stand out:

Excellent attention to detail in the design, and another way to recognize me at MINI meets 🙂

Messing with perfection

You know I love my MINI themed clothing – and one of my favourites is the “DaMINI” Tshirt designed by NAM member JoeRKtect.

Well, Joe was persuaded to do the design on a black Tshirt instead of the original (tan?sand?) color and mine arrived today …
Sadly, Joes design turns out to work much better on the original; with the harsh contrast of the black Tshirt and white lettering, what originally was a nice “make-it-look-old” texture now looks more like “didn’t-print-properly”! On the upside, the newly enhanced front design, with extra & slowly fading text, does look quite good:
