Museum of Osteology

This afternoon Margaret took us to Skeletons: Museum of Osteology in Orlando, near to the Orlando Eye and surprisingly with free parking!

The somewhat expensive entrance fee was justified by the huge range of skeletons on display – and the huge skeletons for some animals! Very informative displays too, comparing different animals … here’s a pile of bones for you to view:

Raccoon in a tree!

I noticed movement in one of the trees behind our home last night; with my high zoom Nikon camera I could see a raccoon!

After these photos through a window, I quietly went outside to get better pictures – and I was watched every step I took!

Lake Apopka North Shore Drive #4

Recent photos from the pond near the pump house sent Margaret and I up to the drive this morning to see if we could also spot loads of alligators! We didn’t see the 70+ that others reported but I’m sure we saw more than 10 … here’s some pictures:

There were of course many birds too; here’s a selection:

In addition to the wading birds, there was an amazing number of swallowtail kites in the sky at one spot on the drive – everyone was stopped to admire them – us too! Really hard to photograph though:

And finally some “birds on a wire” but we don’t know what they are:
