It’s now ours!

Today we closed on our new home in Independence, so it’s now officially ours!

However, there’s still tasks to be done before we can properly move in; the garage door is open because it’s surface was only coated this morning (same for the rear porch) and meanwhile indoors, the stair rail has been drastically rebuilt to achieve “code” – and it’s rather ugly now with a strange slope, horizontal, vertical, horizontal, vertical, slope, design:

We have various tasks now over the next week, getting cable internet, walk in closets, and eventually doing a full move from 8002 to Independence next weekend …

More at Independence

With less than two weeks to closing, today’s visit to our new home has more progress, and confirms still more yet to go … outside we have landscaping now, with grass, bushes and even a few trees! Railings on the front porch finish the front porch quite nicely, too:

Inside, the kitchen island lighting has been moved so that is is ABOVE the island (leaving a couple of holes to be patched), and on the stairs, the final “spindles” are now installed downstairs and up:

In this upstairs picture you can also see all the blue tape, marking where paintwork / trim / etc needs to be tidied, and our master bathroom now has a toilet door that can (just) be opened / closed past the toilet, and crew were installing the pocket doors to the bathroom itself:
