Making sour dough bread

Our local French Bakery Le Petit Paris has started doing workshops to learn about making their products and today I joined them to learn about making sour dough bread. The course is quite expensive ($140) but it was very fun and I learned lots – and came home with bread!

Stefan, the baker / owner, presents the workshop and had a good set of instructions and good use of time to ensure us four attendees benefited … he began by giving us prepared dough to shape into bread (which went into proving and later was cooked for us to take home); we then moved to being shown how the dough was made, and how sough dough starter is used and care for.

Here’s photos from my morning …

Back garden views in July

Everything is growing crazily with all the sunshine and rain we’ve been getting recently! Margaret needed to trim down the side of the house this week so it’s possible to get through …

And here’s a walk-around in the back garden (and one picture near the pool) featuring some of the flowers we have right now …

An evening at Epcot

Yesterday afternoon Margaret & I drove to Epcot with friends Linda & Berch, to enjoy the location and have dinner at the Moroccan restaurant.

When we arrived the park seemed happily quiet and we did a “walk on” to Spaceship Earth! After dinner we rode Ratatouille (which did have a long wait), and both Living With The Land and Soarin’ (where were both near walk-on). We also got VERY wet with a heavy ten minute storm! By the time we’d done Soarin’ it was almost 9pm so we stayed for the fireworks. Photos of course:
