Heritage Weather

The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation has regular history displays at their museum location downtown, and last night had a talk by Tom Sorrells (one time local meterologist) entertainingly introducing the weather topic, and with information about the frequency of hurricanes, tornadoes, etc in our area … of course I took some photos!

After the talk we adjourned next door to the museum to take a look at their weather displays, up for this month … it was a shock to see information about the 1998 tornado that hit right in Winter Garden (I’d not heard of it before!)

Small ‘Gators

We took a trip to Oakland Nature Preserve yesterday, and spotted three or four small alligators in the water either side of the boardwalk close to Lake Apopka … took a few photos, and a short video as well. There was also an amazing bird box taken over by bees that apparently had run out of room inside and were building an “annex”!

Animal Kingdom Lodge with zoom

This afternoon we visited Animal Kingdom Lodge to enjoy lunch at Sanaa, and I took my high zoom Sony camera to take animal photos – of which there were quite a few (this is cut down from all the photos I took!) …

At one point all the animals spotted a truck delivering food, and all headed the same way to intercept!

Finally, here’s photos of the excellent food we had for lunch!
