Plants love the rain

While we were in Florida, there was a solid week of heavy rain up here – 15″ fell (about 2 or 3 months worth!); but the plants all loved it, especially now with wam weather following … loads of fresh new growth everywhere. Here’s a few pics, including the amazing Broom, and a lot of healthy fish:

Cape Ann Food Pantry “Empty Bowl”

Just before our flight to Florida, I helped once again with the Cape Ann Food Pantry Empty Bowl – this year 800 people visited and, including donations prior to the event, over $18,000 was raised!
The Empty Bowl tries to educate people to the plight of the “food insecure”, encouraging a donation in return for a decorated empty bowl, and a meal of soup & bread. The bowls are created by local artisans and decorated by them, by the public, or by local celebraties.

 

Cape Ann Food Pantry Annual Board Meeting

I spent most of yesterday at Gortons of Gloucester, at the annual board meeting of Cape Ann Food Pantry (Open Door). Beebe, our facilitator, helped the board interpret possible futures for CAFP … As part of the day, we were grouped into three teams and told to create an “artistic” image of Cape Ann using these objects! The idea was to help discover new directions for CAFP that might not be thought of in simple discussion …
