A beautiful golden sun set behind trees in our garden this evening …
Addition re-construction #5
All boxed in now! Sheetrock and cement board hides the chimney …
Tomorrow, the sheetrock gets skim coated, then we need everything tiled; we’re waiting on Tessera to come up with a design. We also need new flooring – you can see that the carpet is gone now, but we’ve still not decided a color / texture for the hardwood floor.
There’s plans too for all new furniture (Boston Interiors maybe), and a cabinet to the right of the fireplace for the stereo equipment … it’s amazing how complex this is getting (and that’s without figuring a new room lighting scheme, new window drapes, etc, etc!)
A day later, it’s all plastered and the construction holes have vanished too!
Addition re-construction #4
We have a finished Granite hearth now! And it looks fabulous! It’s hard to photograph well – but hopefully these pics give an idea … there’s comparison pictures with and without camera flash, to show how tricky it is to get the lighting good:
Lots still to do … get city inspection signed off first for the complete fireplace, then we can sheetrock and close it; after that we need to figure good tile color and design. We also need to build a shelf/cabinet to the right, put down a hardwood floor, redecorate (walls/windows/etc) and finally, new furniture! In to next year before we’re done, maybe?!
