Quite amusing to view the latest “where are the photos” image from Apple iPhoto:
We’ve driven close to 3,000 miles now, and if we drive direct, we still have over 1,500 miles to go …
Today we first headed East across New Mexico, to Roswell – where there was much less “UFO junk” than we’d expected!
But then we turned South, and headed down to Carlsbad Caverns, a HUGE underground cave structure with many stalactites, stalagmites, etc … to arrive at the main cave we had to descend 750ft in an elevator (the walk-down route was closed due to lightning!)

You cannot get a sense of size from these pictures – you walk for about an hour to tour right round the main cave! Oh, and the colors are due to the camera and lighting; most of the cavern is a dull gray color …
