Galapagos 2021 day 8

Docked in Santa Cruz, we left the ship for the last time, saying goodbye to the crew and all our new friends!

Santa Cruz reminded us it’s nearly Christmas (and with unusual nativity animals!):

Before heading to the airport, one final Giant Tortoise visit – this time all the Tortoises are truly wild and just happen to be wandering through the Rancho Primicias reserve! There were still many, a bit more spread out than at the earlier place …

And that’s it! 40 hours, three flights, and we got home from this amazing trip!

Galapagos 2021 day 7

Out last full day on our Royal Galapagos Cormorant 1 cruise started with kayaking:

After lunch we trekked to see Flamingos and this was really the only letdown of our trip; there were only five birds and all a long way off, a struggle even for the medium zoom Sony camera I had with me:

In the afternoon we had our final snorkeling, somewhat rough sea where two currents meet but resulting in MANY fish (and another turtle!):

Galapagos 2021 day 6

Another walk starts the day, on a rocky island this time, filled with Marine Iguanas some with the “Christmas Iguana” breeding plumage:

Many birds too including an occasional Blue Footed Boobie and many more Nazca Boobies (with no special foot color); also our first sighting of a Galapagos Hawk, and Albatrosses including a young one testing its wings:

Our day ended on another beach with Sea Lions, but you’ve surely seen enough of them by now!
