A huge geothermal spectacle just south of the north entrance to Yellowstone; clear here is how the features keep changing – where hot water bubbles up and provides nourishment to bacteria, the colors are bright, but where the water no longer runs the bacteria die leaving just the white of the minerals laid down when the water flowed!
Wyoming 2019 – The Upper Basin
Within a couple miles walk of Old Faithful are many geothermal features – more geysers, hot springs and colorful pools, so much natural beauty! Photos don’t really capture all that we enjoyed, but here’s some anyway …
This really is a must visit area of Yellowstone, despite the traffic (because everyone does visit!)
Macro flowers
I just purchased a(nother!) new camera, the Sony A6400; it offers enhanced low light also being small and light (almost too small!) and while it doesn’t have the massive zoom of my other high zoom cameras although with the 18-200 lens I also purchased, it’s pretty good!
Testing the opposite view, I used the macro feature to take close-up views of flowers on my morning walk around town … none of these are edited (except for size); color/etc just straight from the camera – and I’m very impressed!
