Animal Kingdom close-ups

I spent a few hours yesterday, touring Disney’s Animal Kingdom, with my high-zoom camera; I also used my iPhone and fitbit App to track the day, making for an interesting map! The long “stem” is walking to/from the parking, into the park …

The break at mile one is where I did the Safari (I didn’t track it since I wasn’t walking!); the loop top left is walking Pangani Forest – the Safari drive wraps around the outside of that area. Above mile two is the other forest walk, Maharajah Jungle Trek. Down by mile four is where I rode the Dinosaur ride (which is surprisingly short, more time queuing than riding!); quite a lot of doubling back too, killing time between FastPass bookings!

Most of the photos come from the Safari ride; using my high-zoom camera can give nice close-ups, but it’s tricky since this ride vehicle almost never stops! So a few pictures are blurry or poor quality, but hopefully enjoyable enough …

Pirates & Pals fireworks voyage

We recently bid / won tickets to the Disney Pirates & Pals fireworks voyage, and thanks to great help from Todd & Raymond, we were able to board the voyage last night while our guests are still visiting.
The voyage begins from the Disney Contemporary resort, meeting pirates including Captain Hook and Mr Smee; after snacks, we board a “pirate ship” guided by a fabulously entertaining Disney pirate, and head out to the Seven Seas Lagoon and wait for the Magic Kingdom fireworks to begin … Music and narration plays, giving a perfect sound / light show with amazing views of the fireworks – they make Cinderella’s castle look tiny and they are further enhanced by reflections on the water:

This was a fabulous evening, rewarding us with an amazing view and no crowds! Definitely a great way to enjoy the Disney Magic Kingdom fireworks …
