UnDISCOVERed Future World at Epcot

My birthday trip today was the UnDISCOVERed Future World tour at Epcot, a nice way to experience Epcot – and a way to jump the queue at Soarin’ too!
The tour began in the Epcot park, but learning new information from the guide, looking at the park differently, and going to areas we typically don’t bother with – leading us for example to a date panel (click to see the first of four photos, and go right for older):

Soon we walked past Nemo, and to a “secret” conference center above the Coral Reef restaurant and overlooking the aquarium – really nice place and apparently available for wedding and other events!

After that we headed properly “back stage” behind the huge Soarin’ ride – we also got time on that ride but sadly didn’t get to see the ride machinery!
We got a close-up look at a couple of Animatronics behind Ellen’s Universe Of Energy, then walked behind and around Test Track:

The track this side, where the cars wrap around the building, is “gimbaled” so the track can tilt slightly as the cars go by, reducing stress! You can see the rubber suspension at the bottoms of the columns.

Finally, a walk past thousands of lockers for the Disney staff, and around the many racks of costumes, before finishing the tour in World Showcase …

Another Wild Africa Trek

This week we repeated the excellent Wild Africa Trek, backstage at Animal Kingdom, but with Kate too! Lots more pictures, mostly just like last year, but still great …

On our way out we got to see an anteater take a bath!

Animal Kingdom snapshots

A trip to Animal Kingdom today, in warm but not so sunny weather, gave a few not-so-great phone camera shots – but the Tiger is quite good; and as we were leaving we caught site of a very active Giant Anteater (clearly it was expecting food, from the way it kept visiting the cage entrance); it’s name was justified, easily more than six feet nose to end of stiff tail!
