Visiting this city was manic! The city is so busy and while it appears to welcome rowdy groups of drunk women on their “party buses“, it was not to our taste. We did take a bus tour around the town, grabbed lunch in a somewhat quieter place, and quickly left! There are some interesting buildings to see (but why is there a Parthenon?!) …
Leaving Lake Barkley State Resort Park to get a better breakfast, we stopped in Clarksville where it turned out they were staging for a movie set in Michigan! Confusing …
The sculpture represents the triumph of Women’s Suffrage (Tennessee was the state that “just” passed the 19th amendment).
Another “tick off the state” stop, and I really can’t recommend this lodging – though the park is beautiful. Lodging food was poor, smoking occurred even though not allowed (leaving our room smelling unpleasant from neighbors) … but here’s a few pictures:
