Seven States: Eufaula, AL

We recently took a driving trip from Florida, staying overnight in seven states to “tick them off” the list (we’ve stayed in nearly 40 of the 50 states now); our first stop after more than 350 miles of driving was a little town Eufaula in Alabama, reasonably close to our destination next morning. We stayed in a nice B&B and took a walk downtown which was sadly quite rundown other than Main St where we had dinner (we found a “Piggly Wiggly” too, famous as the first true self-service grocery store in USA, though not this specific location!) …

Spring Affaire 2023

We have often visited the nearby Avian Reconditioning Center for their Fall Owl Fest but this is our first time for the Spring Affaire (which is another chance to see the owls, hawks, eagles and other cared-for birds, with added costumes!)

Of course I took many photos of all the birds (though sadly “Gordon” is no longer alive) …

There was also a “release” where a bird that had been cared for was released back to the wild …
