MoP poker run journal stickers

For the upcoming MINI of Peabody poker run (April 23rd), I wanted to do some stickers for attendees to stick in their MINI journals.
Sadly I am a software engineer and not much of a designer – I combined the MINI logo with a playing card background and text; the result was OK but nothing special – hard to read the text for example:

So I called on my west coast MINI owning friend Robert – his real life career is in design – and he sent back a few much improved designs which I will happily print and hand out next month …

I couldn’t decide which one I liked best, so I printed both – we’ll see which is more popular at MINI Peabody on the day!

Thanks Robert 🙂

John Cooper Works Upgrade for $25!

This years amazing MINIsOnTop raffle is of a John Cooper Works upgrade (*).
This fabulous prize, worth around $6000, has been generously donated by MINI of Peabody, a dealership heavily involved in the MINI community and rated #1 for service by everyone I know! They’ve also been #1 for sales in USA (but they were just beaten in 2005).

A maximum of 250 tickets will be sold for this prize, at $25 each – or buy 5 tickets for $100.
The drawing will take place at MINIsOnTop this summer, June 17 2006.
All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to The Make-A-Wish foundation of Massachusetts, our chosen charity for 2006.
Tickets will be available for purchase at MINI of Peabody, or you can contact me.

You can see the full list of MINIsOnTop sponsors on this webpage.

IMPORTANT:
(*) This raffle is open to all, but the JCW upgrade is suitable only for MINI Cooper S models built January 2004 and later, and equipped with a manual transmission. The prize is supplied by MINI of Peabody, and the prize includes installation at that dealership only.
Cars built before January 2004 have an incompatible exhaust mount – if the winner owns an older car, he/she can choose to omit the exhaust, or have the exhaust mounts adapted (at additional cost not included in the prize).
UPDATE: MINI of Peabody have determined that exhaust hanger modifications to suit older cars are feasible – AND the modification costs will be absorbed by them!
The prize cannot be exchanged for cash or any other merchandise.

Time for tires

A shout out for opinions 🙂

My Pirelli PZero Nero tires are reaching the end of their life after 1-1/2 years and 25,000 miles.

When I bought my Pirellis, TireRack recommended the size 205/50 R16 – I guess that is still the best aftermarket size, since the choice of 195/55 R16 is pitiful!

On TireRack you can compare different choices easily – here I compared five possible options for an all-season 205/50 R16 tire, including the Pirelli PZero Nero, and a Bridgestone Potenza choice.

It looks like the Pirellis are still the best choice – but am I missing some other options? Remember, I want a 16″ tire and I don’t want to switch to winter tires so I want all-seasons.
