MINI of Peabody Spring Rally

Todays MINI of Peabody Spring Rally went well and escaped with minimal poor weather – although the threat apparently kept 1/3 of the sign-ups away! The rest of us had great fun though. The route took MINIs north through Topsfield then east through Ipswich and out to the Atlantic coast, and back, collecting playing cards on the way (click here for the route out and the route back). Unfortunately with no navigator, and being the lead MINI for much of the drive, I only took a few “on route” pictures …

Back at MINI of Peabody, new Sales Manager Paul Taylor greeted returning MINIs and handed out the final playing card to each one; there was also food (with a long but fast moving queue, and excellent catering)

Finally it was prize time – a special prize for Debbie Rose (her birthday brand new MINI was undelayed too late to be delivered today) and everyone else got a prize too. Astonishingly (and not rigged in any way), I came back with a king high full-house which happened to be the winning hand! My prize of a(nother) Spa Detailing of GBMINI will be much appreciated!

Many thanks from me to everyone at MINI of Peabody that put this event on – almost all their staff were in and helping the event run smoothly (which it did), and well done Paul for putting together such a great “welcome” event from you to the MINI community 🙂

  1. I knew about St Georges day – I thought it was quite appropriate when celebrating British cars 🙂

For the poker run, each car will collect a poker hand of cards during the drive, getting one card at each of a number of stopping points.
Once back at MINI of Peabody, the best poker hand wins!

  2. Ian, congrats on the win, glad the weather held off for you folks, looks like loads of fun. Guess I’ll have to wait until MoT to hear from David about his big trip, saw his car in your pics.

I had emailed Paul, but never got my confirmation and a personal commitment kept me away anyway, so I hope I’m not one of the 33% “no shows”.

  3. Now thats a cool DEALER!!! I could just hope a local dealer would do this. The closest they do is a get together with little food with just a hope of selling more cars.

  4. Ian:

I had a great time. Two visits to MoP in 4 days! (down for first service last Thursday).

The weather was good in Peabody it was pretty wet back here in Vermont.

Many thanks to all the staff of MoP, who all seemed to be there. Don’t you just love a shop that is clean enough to be a restaurant on the 7th day!

  5. “Here, everyone is gathering to hear the driver speech (although some people apparently didn’t hear the bit about sensible driving speeds!)”

So Ian, did some folks get bagged by the local mounties? We’ll have to remind everyone for MoT that the Park Rangers have radar guns too!

  6. LTZMOTR: The sticker winner was BOTH! Every sticker was taken – but the red background ones went first 🙂

Chris: I’m not sure if anyone got a ticket, but someone definitely got pulled over – and some un-charitable locals complained to the police over our use of a public parking lot! 😦

  7. I can’t believe that people complained about us using a public lot. What were there for…all in all 15 minutes max? Maybe if they were driving MINIs they would be a little happier. 🙂
