4,800 miles plus 2,400

Today, we picked up GPMINI from MINI of Orlando, and did the final hop of our Coast-to-Coast drive, by reaching the Atlantic Coast! In total, we put about 4,800 miles on GPMINI, as recorded by Road Trip on my iPad:

As you can see, we averaged 27.5mpg, a little above Robert’s 26.0 on the way out – something to do with driving speed perhaps, as we noticed a significant difference between driving at 65-70 or 80-85.

Adding the two drives together, GPMINI did just over 7,200 miles on her Coast-To-Coast-To-Coast trip; and I’m sure she enjoyed all of it! Now she’s fully healthy once more (thanks MINI of Orlando), and settling back to garage time and occasional short drives, while Margaret and I plan to fly back North this week …

Back to MINI of Orlando

Today we are back to MINI of Orlando to deal withnthe tie rods; also confirmed the recent noise is due to poor runflat tire wear (one year and less than 10,000 miles!), and apparently an issue with the slow fan speed relay which explains why i was hearing the fan running so much recently.

Hopefully my MINI dealership sweet spot will be maintained, and costs will be minimal … only 12 days past warranty and still 7,000 miles short!

The Truman Show

One last goal during this coast-to-coast trip was to visit Seaside, Fl where The Truman Show was set (I love the movie) … we did make it there this morning, but of course real life is not much like the movies after all. Nevertheless, we took a photo outside “Truman House”, and a couple more pics in Seaside, FL:

We also reached 42,000 miles today, and the more interesting 042042 also 😉

Tonight, we’re back in our second home at 8002, and GPMINI has a garage; we still need to drive to the Atlantic coast to finish this coast-to-coast trip, but first a visit MINI of Orlando (Friday morning) for GPMINI’s Tie rod replacements … our trip is not quite at an end yet, but it’s close!
