MINI Takes The States 2010

Happily, MINI USA has created a MINI Takes The States that I hope to be able to enjoy, returning to the original “road trip” roots of fabulous MTTS2006, while giving a nod to the night-club style of MTTS2008 and MU, more popular with WRR organizers than with me 😉

There’s not a lot of detail so far, no indication if there will be nightly events like 2006, or just the parties at each end of the road trip legs – but offering a drive from Atlanta (closest to GPMINI) to Denver, is enough temptation that, after discussion at work, I’ve registered … and hope to actually participate in the drive too!

It’s a bit of a work gamble at the moment, although August is a quiet time for Europe customers, and I can claim to be driving past some of the others! So hopefully I’ll make the drive, and get a few more miles on GPMINI. With luck, meet up with some MINI friends too 🙂

Second Wednesday with Sunshine MINIs

I actually planned my Florida vacation this week, so that it overlapped “Second Wednesday” and I was able to hang out for an evening with MINI folk! And while it looked like a small turnout, we did finally have five cars – including a couple with a less-than-one-week-old (to them) MINI, and a really nice ’63 classic Mini panel van! Oh – and spectacular weather allowing us to enjoy an outdoor evening with good food and company 🙂

MINI of Peabody 2010 Spring Rally

Stop Press! It didn’t rain this year!

Thanks to the kindness of MINI of Peabody, I was able to enjoy another fabulous Spring Poker Rally, and so did loads of other MINI owners:

On the road. Our first “playing card” pit stop was at Hrach’s Mini Museum, at the end of some tight back roads and down a dead end street – it caused major chaos and traffic jams for the MINIs and other local traffic!

To avoid the chaos, we chose to skip Hrach’s (hopefully I can get to it some other time) – and then we were all alone on the roads! But after getting our extra playing cards, and getting very cold at Singing Beach (the Sun lost out to the Ocean there, some 20 degrees colder!), we headed back to MINI of Peabody to be created in with a checkered flag, and a final playing card:

And then, there was food and chat; and prizes (but none for us):

A great day, fun with MINIs, made even better by the weather – and Margaret doing my navigation; thanks, Margaret – and thanks MINI Peabody!
