GPMINI goes “under cover”

GPMINI has been parked outdoors at home, since we have no garage in Gloucester – and with an early “birds-eat-berries” season, and too many trees overhanging our driveway, she was in a sorry state today; I was actually concerned when I started trying to wash her, that she wouldn’t come clean – I had to resort to “Dawn”, hot water and somewhat-too-severe rubbing, to get the evil berry stains off her paintwork!
She looked so bad, I didn’t take any “before” pictures – but here’s some “after” ones, after both the “Dawn” wash and the “Ice” shine. As you might see, she’s not on our driveway but next door (thanks, Joanne & Earle!) – the birds were still eating and dropping while I washed, and it was a losing battle till I moved her …

So, after washing, “Ice”ing, and a little drive to recharge her battery, it was back to our driveway followed by QUICK deployment of her car cover … This is a factory outdoor GP-specific car cover – note the red mirror caps above, as well as the “GP” logo on the hood, and a cute little window at the back, so you still know who she is …

Classic parking

After yet another fabulous MINIsOnTop recently, including a great morning at Loon Mountain with 220 perfectly parked MINIs, we were invited to Loon Mountain today to help with parking an anticipated 200 classic cars for their Kruise the Kanc Classic Car Drive.
Rarely likely to turn down a chance to get together, about 10 MINI owners headed up … sadly, we nearly outnumbered the classic cars, parking only 20 in the end! But the company was great, the cars that did show were spectacular, and the (mid 80s) weather was amazing! So, here’s some pictures …

Volunteers included Pete, Ivan, Kevin, Shannon, Chip, Richard, Theo …

Lots of nice cars arrived, not really enough to need help with parking though!

After a wile, the cars headed off to drive the Kancamagus Highway:

Numbers

A couple of significant numbers … GP roof number #0203, and of course the very important number “42” (thanks, Douglas, RIP) …

Another version of GP0203 came to me recently, thanks to TwistyBlitz run by Robert Ballard … his latest iteration of GP themed Tshirt now uses very nice reflective silver lettering for the roof number (compare with original gray the “GP” on the logo design):

(now I’ll be seen at night too, with reflective sleeves!)
