Ivan’s visit

Ivan visited the office yesterday, in his new (to him) ’06 JCW MINI, to get his auto-up-windows circuit working again (Ivan has one of the original three circuits and it hadn’t survived the journey from MINI to MINI, but we fixed it) – so there were four MINIs in the parking lot for a while!

Ivan’s new MINI is nicely equipped in Hyper Blue with aero kit and tan interior, and loaded with just about everything (except nav, he says!) …

Enjoy, Ivan 🙂

An alliance of fridge magnets

North American Motoring recently introduced their Alliance program – basically a way to collect fees for “enhanced” forum membership. In the case of the NAM Alliance, their larger PM and Gallery space is useless to me – but their first online magazines were VERY well laid out – better than some print magazines I read – although I still haven’t found the time/inclination to stare at a computer screen for the time needed to read the content (and at close to 50 pages, it’s too much to print out).

What clinched it for me, though, was the offer of a fridge magnet – sorry, a magnetic badge. Yes, $40 is a lot to pay for a fridge magnet … but it arrived today and it’s super! And it now lives happily on my fridge, with a couple of other MINI related designs and many non-MINI ones too:

I’m looking forward to seeing what else the Alliance membership offers in it’s first year – we’ll see if they do enough to persuade me to pay them again!

Jump start needed :(

GPMINI did not want to run this morning, after being parked for ten days.
The battery was able to unlock the doors but as soon as I tried to turn the engine over, I got various relay clicks, and no engine movement at all!
I borrowed jump leads from Pat & Dave next door – and eventually had to “borrow” Daves Jeep too, since Margarets BMW apparently has no battery (at least, they hid it well and she didn’t know where her car manuals were).

1-1/2 years and 23,000 miles doesn’t sound like a hard life for a battery, even if the GP one is smaller than other MINIs … time for a visit to MINI Peabody I think.
