MOT’11 arrival

Margaret and I took about four hours driving up today along the non-highway route 16, via the new Farm restaurant in Dover, NH. Pretty good time, since lunch was an hour …
But now we are back at the Attitash waiting slightly impatiently for more MINIs to arrive (there’s a few here, including Ivan and Cathryn, MINI-less, and Tonine from MINI USA); meanwhile GPMINI is dirty from all the rain on the way up, but settled for the night now …

MINIsOnTop “royalty”

At the end of last years MINIsOnTop, Margaret and I high bid on an auction to be “MINIsOnTop King and Queen” at this years event! As part of that bid, all our MOT2011 registration was delivered last week by Sarah & Brian – and so we are all set to head north tomorrow; and since we are “royalty”, we have some crowns too 🙂

(thanks, Joanne!)

Finally, befitting royalty, I have some fancy new shirts in addition to the nice white and turquoise(?) MOT shirts, Robert / TwistyBitz perfectly timed todays delivery of oh-so-comfortable “racewear” shirts …

So if you see us “crowned” at MINIsOnTop this weekend, be sure to offer appropriate reverence 😉

Wet cars

I took some pictures of the rain-soaked garden this morning and posted them on M&I; I thought I’d post a couple of the wet cars, too!

I drove Margaret’s new Z4 yesterday for the first time, and found it surprisingly smaller than my MINI! Less leg room with the seat fully back, and less hip room due to the wide central column (because of rear wheel drive, perhaps?). Steering response and feedback is great but not quite as satisfying as my GP; but engine/exhaust noise is better and louder – not sure if it’s too loud for long trips, but Margaret never complained on our drive up from BMW Spartanburg so it must be ok.
Really have to be careful parking in to spaces, that hood reaches out a long way and low down, likely to catch kerbs …
