Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Since we’re not driving anywhere today, Margaret & I went out walking at lunchtime with our friends Sheila & Paul and their sons Matthew & Tom (no school today!); the original plan was to head down and over the river, but with even footpaths slippery we changed to a closer pub lunch destination. Lunch was fabulous – and the winter views were pretty specactular too!

Snow in England

A bit of a surprise for it to be colder, with more Snow, than back home … we landed about 7:30pm UK time Saturday, got the rental (a quite nice Ford Fiesta) and headed north, covering about 200 miles / 4 hours before stopping at this pub / hotel in Boroughbridge near the A1:

This morning we drove the last 80 miles to our Friends Sheila & Paul near Newcastle; the roads got worse as we approached – and their road is not treated at all, making the uphill climb challenging to say the least! For England, this is a lot of snow!
