When we visited Florida at the end of December, we weren’t only having a vacation … we also looked at a number of homes for sale, with a plan to purchase one as a second home!
Florida house prices are very low at the moment, so it’s a good long term investment – and of course having somewhere warm and sunny to go when New England is in the grip of winter will be nice πŸ™‚

Anyway, we visited many homes, and eventually concluded that most were wrong for one reason or another … too near busy roads, pool north-facing so in shadow, too dark inside … but the last home we saw solved all those issues!Β The back of the home, where the pool is, faces south south east; there are skylights in the main living area, and it’s a quiet location!

The home has a total of four bedrooms and three bathrooms, with a nice master bedroom/bathroom, and is “open plan” with a large living area; the home is fully furnished and is zoned for short-term rental if we decide to do that … but for now, it’s just us! We completed the purchase today, and we’re flying down in the morning to spend a weekend there, and meet Brian & Angie from a management company who looked after the property for the previous owners, and probably will do the same for us …

A new toggle switch panel

I took apart GBMINI#6’s center stack today, to install a new toggle switch panel:

Thus, no more empty toggle positions (although the front/rear fog switches currently don’t work); and I now once again have somewhere to install the (unique?) chrome toggle rings (which I removed from GBMINI#3 before I sold it) – of course, I took the opportunity to install an auto-up windows MINI circuit (another benefit of not owning an R56!).

I also checked the AUX input cable to the back of the radio, it seemed to be properly installed – but it still doesn’t work! 😦

(Second) MINI of Peabody tech day

(dare I post this?!)

Apparently yesterdays MINI of Peabody tech day was very successful, and the dealership is already planning a second event – but this time all day on Saturday February 9th, allowing lots more customers to attend:
Due to high demand for Tech Night we are going to be holding Tech Day on February 9th 2008. Tech Day will run from 8-4pm. Each customer will be given a time slot for when their car will be looked at. The time slots will be awarded on a first come first serve basis. Therefore the sooner you RSVP the earlier your time slot will be. Each customer will get between 30-35 minutes with a MINI tech. Please email me back with your RSVP as soon as possible. Have a great day!

So I quickly got my email back to them, and had an instant response confirming a 9am time slot.
Now … which car should I take?!

SOLUTION: Book in twice – once for each car πŸ˜€
(9am and 3pm)
