One week later, and another walk round the reservoir – no ice this week, and surprisingly few downed trees actually (the dog is Beau, who decided to walk the reservoir with me!)

Another result of the huge storm Thursday night, and the accompanying near hurricane winds, was that many trees blew down. By now, many have been cleared, but Margaret took me to a Gloucester cemetery where the damage remains very visible:
Thankfully, our home and those of our neighbours are un-touched – though many people in the area are still without power due to fallen Trees taking down power lines; here’s a snapshot showing electrical outages in the area right now:

Where’s the Essex river?
A huge storm over North East USA delivered torrential rain and near hurricane force winds to Gloucester (luckily not the crazy heavy snow storm that happened further south in New York and Pennsylvania states) … one effect, combined with high tide and full moon, the winds pushed storm surge water in to the coast and up the Essex river, turning it in to a flood plain lake!
