Robust Hrach

Strange as the title might be, Hrach was a “robust” individual, a huge friend to everyone, and he certainly led a huge life even if it was ended too soon. Today, many of his MINI and Mini friends from MINI of Peabody, New England Mini Owners, Mass Motoring Club and elsewhere, joined his friends and family at St Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church where the Pastor powerfully and accurately talked of “Robust Hrach”, his life in Lebanon, Iraq, and America, his jewelry skills – as well of course as his love for Minis.

Of course, in the best way to remember Hrach, there were Minis and MINIs everywhere!

See this post for pictures of Hrach – always smiling!

Grand Opening!

We visited the new MINI of Peabody a few weeks ago, but tonight was the official Grand Opening – and there was a huge turnout of people! Special guests included Gerry Matthews (who used to be MINI USA North East Regional Manager but has now switched to BMW), and everyones favorite Vice President, Jim McDowell! But perhaps the most special guest was a MINI Countryman that cut the ribbon – many attendees had never seen the Countryman before – and there were MANY attendees.

Lots of people I’d never met before too (though a few well known folks like Ivan, Heidi, Richard, and Keith with his dog Hudson); MINI of Peabody staff were of course out in force and looking unusual in suits, while owner Warren gave lots of nice speeches!

As if the main showroom was not enough with it’s food and the ribbon cutting, everyone headed down to the workshop – which had been transformed in to a near disco with color-changing lights and great live music! The lead singers arrived – of course – in the Countryman!

Mickey & MINI 2010 – Dinner Show

Again because I hadn’t originally planned to fly down, I had not planned events, but learned of The Outta Control Dinner Show happening tonight, and bought a dinner ticket from someone that couldn’t attend. Excellent 🙂
So, another short MINI drive:

The show is at WonderWorks, a bit of an “upside-down place”! The actual dinner part of the evening was nothing great; some OK salad and less than best pizza slices, and a piece of cake … But of course the MINI company was perfect, as always!

The show itself (from Tony Brent) was hilarious and amazing; Tony performs comedy magic with a good level of audience participation, including a few great card tricks and a fabulous disappearing-$100-reappearing-in-a-lemon; he also discovered Xiek and had him up on stage …

My personal highlight surely was “I’ve got you Babe” – imagine an audience member with ventriloquist face mask operated by Brent as Cher, while he mimes Sonny!

A great evening – many thanks Mickey & MINI and all my MINI friends down here!
